Emmett and I would like to welcome you to The Little Emmett That Could. Emmett is a 1-year-old black lab mix rescued from Kentucky. I (Jordyn) adopted him April 29th, 2018.
Emmett is fearful and nervous of just about everyone. He takes a long time to warm up to people, but the wait is definitely worth it. Emmett has never met another animal he doesn’t like. He enjoys visits to the dog park, going to his friend Dakota’s house, and nature walks. Emmett doesn’t enjoy our coffee shop trips, but with enough treats he can usually be convinced that the world is not melting around him.
I am a twenty-something dog mom, who works every day to do give my dog the very best. I worked at a family owned pet supply store for two years and currently work there part time in addition to my full-time job. This job gave me a great base knowledge of pet nutrition. I try to make healthy choices for my pets.
I decided to put Emmett on a raw diet because I believe it is one of the best things you can do for your pet. This being said, I know it is not feasible for everyone and there are a number of great food options out there.
I have two other dogs in my life, Duncan and Fergus. Both belong to my parents. Duncan is an 85 pound mutt and Fergus is a border collie. They are special in their own way and Emmett gets to play with them several days a week. (free doggy day care!) They often join in on adventures and sleepovers.
I hope this blog becomes a source for all dog-parents out there. I’m not perfect and neither is my dog. This is a place for honest opinions and constructive conversations.
